Club Information

Running West Sled Dog Club has been a pillar of the local, state, and national sled dog community since 2005. It began when a group of friends came together with a simple goal: to run their dogs in a casual, supportive, and fun atmosphere.

Today, Running West stays true to those roots. While the competition is exciting, our priority is putting on relaxed events where everyone—from seasoned mushers to complete beginners—can enjoy a weekend away with their dogs and friends.

What is Sledding in WA?
As a Western Australian club, we specialize in Dryland Sledding. Instead of snow, our trails take us through the stunning jarrah forests and bushland of the South West. You don’t need a team of huskies to participate; we welcome all breeds that love to run! Our classes cover a variety of disciplines, including:

  • Canicross: Running with your dog.
  • Bikejor & Scooter: Cycling or scootering while towed by your dog.
  • Rig Racing: Teams of dogs pulling a 3-or-4-wheeled rig.

Our Community
Based in the South West, our organizers hail from Busselton, Collie, and Perth, bringing events to some of the most beautiful locations in the region. Our race weekends are about more than just the finish line; they are about camping out, sharing stories around the campfire, and being part of a community that puts dog welfare first.

Running West is proud to run its events under the Australian Federation of Sleddog Sports (AFSS) rules and guidelines, ensuring safe and fair competition for all.
